Patient preparation

• Know that it’s an outpatient surgery lasting about 10 to 15 minutes. It does not require hospitalization, and recovery is very fast (2 to 7 days maximum).

  Understand that any adult man can decide how many children he wants to have — or if he doesn’t want to have any at all.

  Accept that nothing changes down there — men continue to ejaculate normally (same color, texture, and amount), but their semen no longer contains sperm, so it no longer causes pregnancy.

  To access the vasectomy service, please keep in mind:

  • A pre-surgical evaluation appointment is required, valid for at least one month.

  • The procedure must be scheduled in advance through the national toll-free line: 300 912 4560.

  • If local anesthesia is required, it will have an additional cost.

  • If the procedure is done through an EPS (Health Insurance Provider), the authorization must be addressed to Profamilia and be valid.
