When to request it?
The use of contraceptive methods should be considered from the moment a person decides to begin their sexual life or at any point during it. A contraception and family planning consultation should be scheduled to choose the method that best fits each individual’s needs.

- It’s true that not all injectable contraceptives can be used while breastfeeding. During this period, only those containing progestin-only formulations are recommended, and always after a medical consultation.
- It’s true that contraceptive injections can cause mild discomfort or pain, especially if the solution is oil-based. However, this discomfort is temporary and lasts only a short time.
- It’s false that the body needs to “take a break” after using injectables for a while. These methods can be used continuously for as long as the woman wishes to remain protected.
- In some cases, it’s true that injectables can cause changes in weight, which depend on each woman’s body. To minimize this, it’s recommended to have a medical consultation before starting the method.
