When to request it?
It is recommended to learn about contraceptive methods before starting any sexual relationship, whether occasional or not.
In general, contraceptive methods can be used at any point during the reproductive years.
This method is particularly recommended for those who are not planning a pregnancy in the near future.
Health Insurance Provider (EPS)
This device is provided and inserted by the EPS (Health Promotion Entity) for users who request it, following a consultation and counseling session with a healthcare professional.
Keep in mind:
- The IUD can be used by people of any reproductive age, regardless of whether they have had children or not.
- The IUD can also be used as an emergency contraceptive, up to five days after unprotected intercourse. This does not make it an abortive method — it simply prevents fertilization.
- The IUD does not cause infertility. On the contrary, once it is removed, fertility returns immediately.
- The IUD does not move to other parts of the body and does not cause discomfort to the partner.
